About – Lara Petrulis BA (Hons Psych), Registered Psychologist (AHPRA)
"Of greatest value is a therapeutic relationship of deep trust and safety where we allow our vulnerability, insecurity, fear and deepest hurts to be seen." - Lara Petrulis
Experience and Background
I am the founder of InnerLife Counselling & Psychology, a psychology practice located in Brookvale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
I am a Registered Psychologist with over 25 years of experience providing counselling to children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, grief,
and trauma.
Over time, this work has given me a deep understanding of how profoundly personal suffering can impact our lives. I feel genuinely drawn to supporting people as they move through these experiences toward greater wholeness,
self-understanding and healing.
Therapeutic Approach
I work from an integrative therapeutic approach, drawing on a range of psychological therapies to support clients not only in addressing their current concerns, but also in exploring and working with the deeper roots of their difficulties.
Central to my work is the therapeutic relationship. I place great importance on creating a space of safety, trust, and respect where clients feel supported in exploring their inner experiences. I bring gentle compassion, honesty, integrity, and deep respect to the therapeutic process.
I also encourage clients to actively engage in their therapeutic journey, supporting them to become partners in a collaborative process of reflection, insight, and change.
Integrated Therapy Approaches:
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Gestalt Therapy
- Schema Therapy
Qualifications and Registration
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Psychology and I am fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
